Chores And Self Esteem
The benefits of performing chores are proven. Chores provide children with a healthy self esteem. Ninety children studied; have shown higher test results from kindergarten through fifth grade when chores were given at an early age. Physiologist believe most adult suffer from low self esteem. Positive children learn new skills and feel good about their achievement. Mastering new tasks has proven beneficial to teens.
Lifelong payoffs are just one benefit of chores done as children. Learning that taking on responsibility of a chore can teach a child how to save money. Saving money can be beneficial. Money can buy life’s needs and wants.
The same study was given to ten year olds, and the results were almost the same. Clearly giving children chores early in development had many benefits. Self esteem was at the top of the list. Willingness to attempt new projects was also obvious. The positive responses from children given chores so young were refreshingly beneficial. Unlike the youngster that had not been expected to perform tasks.
Chores can teach reliability, and can lead children in the positive directions. Reliability is often taught through learning how to accomplish tasks. A child given chores is twice as likely to be on time, therefore more reliable than a child that hasn’t been given chores to do while growing up. Being on time; and being held accountable, all count in efforts towards being reliable.
In conclusion the benefits are staggering when you start to think about it. Children of the old age school start their life accomplishing many tasks and learn from their failures and accomplishments. Physiologist believes that youngsters that have some responsibilities learn early that a job well done, a sense of pride, all contribute to self esteem. It should also me noted that chores never go away in life. Instead of hating tasks that have to be done learn that there are many things in life we would rather not have to do. Chores are essential in a have a full life as an adult.
