Encouraging Your Kids To Be Active And Healthy

Let us face it ? children of today have too many electronic distractions like television, the PC and the Playstation ? even if they still may enjoy playing outside. This leaves our kids with a greater risk of growing up with major health problems or developing a tendency towards being overweight.

There is a way, though, to encourage your children to live active lifestyles and get away from the TV and Playstation for a bit. So without further ado, let us discuss some ways we can sell the healthy lifestyle to our kids while they’re still young and playful.

Play some music and start dancing. Children usually respond very well to music. If you involve yourself in the music appreciation, so will your kids.

Use inexpensive materials, or pre-existing materials to set up a makeshift play area. Your kids can safely enjoy play inside the house this way.

A baby bouncer is a great toy for smaller children. Not only does this build posture, it encourages leg exercise too.

Another money-saving way to have fun inside would be letting your kids play in a bath filled with warm water and their favorite toys.

Teach your toddlers to be self-sufficient by moving their favorite toys to a farther distance, though not that far. They will need to be active and proactive to reach for the toys they love playing with.

When shopping for toys, look for toys that would encourage your small child to push or pull the toy, or walk with it. Your kids can benefit from improved coordination while still having fun.

Your child would benefit from having playmates his or her own age. When playing as a group, children interact better, and there’s hardly a kid who doesn’t enjoy mixing in with other kids.

Ask your older children to help out around the house and be more active. Asking your children to help out with the chores, such as cleaning the yard or helping with the laundry, ensures physical activity and develops a sense of accomplishment.

It may be nice that your kids take up a sport, but make sure that they do so outside, and not inside the house. As far as indoors are concerned, try balloons instead of balls. This could keep your kids active while simulating the game of volleyball.

Don’t come about as a taskmaster ? make your child feel that they will enjoy playing inside and not gluing themselves in front of the TV or PC. It wouldn’t look right if your kids immediately developed a negative association with playing inside due to your lack of enthusiasm.
